Curated Live Experiences

Ishq Ke Saat Muqaam

Not That Kind of Love

Small World Centre, Toronto

April 2024

In collaboration with Tawoos Initiative and Virasat, I curated Not That Kind of Love, using Faiz Ahmed Faiz's poem "Mujse Pehli Si Mohabbat" as a thread to explore a range of emotions. With a live storyteller, visuals, and my performance with a 4-piece band, we invited the audience to introspect on the nature of the world and the transformative power of love.

Offerings at Ishpadinaa

Spadina Museum, Toronto

August 2024

I composed and performed live music for Offerings at Ishpadinaa, a site activation project at Spadina Museum co-curated by Nova Dance. Working with three dancers and a storyteller, I blended live and pre-recorded music to tell a powerful narrative of decolonization, using dance and storytelling to reclaim and reframe the museum’s history.

Transmigrations

Provocation Ideas Festival

Toronto & Stratford

June & November, 2023

For Transmigrations, a collaboration with computer scientist and digital artist Ryan Kelln as part of the Provocation Ideas Festival, I composed original music and re-arranged existing pieces specifically for the concerts. The project explores the evolution of technology, intelligence, and the rise of generative AI tools, blending music and technology to create a unique, thought-provoking experience.

TD Music Hall

May 2025

I led a 6-piece band and served as music director for Ishq Ke Saat Muqaam, a theatrical production written and directed by Nishar Mansuri. The show explored the seven stages of love through poetry and music, rooted in Sufi and South Asian traditions. I curated and arranged the musical repertoire, guiding the ensemble to interpret and perform pieces that captured the emotional and spiritual essence of each stage.
